As I announced in Who are we, at 1001bees.com we truly love bees (and honey!). If all our products feature the bee, it's to celebrate this wonderful, beautiful, and useful insect - for collectors too.

But a passion that contributes nothing is a dead passion. So, yes, we do business, but we also want to get involved in the real lives of these animals.

As you know, the bee is an endangered species: attacked from all sides, bees are bearing the brunt of our excessive development on this planet. Pesticides, monoculture, global warming, but also parasitic infections and Asian hornets weaken these species to the point that we now speak of ‘colony collapse disorder’. Yet, without pollinators, no food! It is estimated that 75% of global production (fruits, vegetables, fodder plants, nuts, etc.) depends on the activity of these insects.

Thus, every year, thanks to the income from this site, we have the pleasure of being able to sponsor 10,000 black bees for more than 5 years!

Here is the (up-to-date) certificate, drawn up by a notary, attesting to this.

We have chosen to specifically sponsor the black bee - scientifically known as Apis Mellifera Mellifera - because it is the most endangered today, despite being the ancestral European bee, one that resisted two periods of glaciation. It is a species capable of producing during several periods throughout the year and which more easily adapts its population and consumption during wintering.

This is a long-term choice rather than having to import exotic bees not adapted to our climates, which poorly defend themselves against diseases and adapt with difficulty. This is how the Black Bee Conservatories were established in France.

Thanks to you, today, our 10,000 bees are happily foraging in Limousin.

Save the bees

Our 10,000 black bees are happily foraging in the Massif Central.

We will keep you informed, as this site evolves, of the new commitments we want to uphold and the partnerships we wish to create!
